January 2012 Update

JED & ANG:
January flew by with not a lot of happenings. We spent the New Year in Columbus with the Jenkins.  They are always a party!  We have been battling an ugly virus (at least Ellie, Sam and Jed). Hopefully we are done with it.  Jed and I were able to attend an Eight is Great fireside with Elisabeth where she learned more about the details of getting baptized this summer.  Elisabeth sold Girl Scout Cookies and had an overnighter with her troop (and Moms)!  Sarah loves preschool and gymnastics she can't wait until those days come around.  Samuel is talking more and more.  He loves to be with his buddies in his Wednesday PlayGroup.  He has been talking a lot about fighting and bad guys.  He is the most serious dancer in the house.  Jed has been busy with church and work.  We had him home for three days while he was sick.  Even though he was suffering we had a great time playing Webkins and Mario with him.  We love you all!  Hope life is good!

KIM & TYLER:
January for the Keate family started off with an trip to Utah for some great Utah snow skiing.  Lets just say the trip didn't go as planned, no snow, an VERY expensive ER visit, and I am still having issues with my hip after I fell when Ashlyn cut in front of me.  So after we came home early from our not so ski adventures, and Caden throwing up as soon as we pulled in, we got into full swing of getting things organized and cleaned up from the holidays. Tyler still had some days off so we took advantage of those and got lots of little things done.  The boys have started up basketball again and both seem to love it.  Caden scored more then 1/2 of his teams points last game, so it will be interesting to see how he does in tomorrows game.  Britton is improving and loves that Tyler is his coach.  Britton had his class play/musical last night and he was one of the leads.  He wouldn't let us practice his lines with him and so we had no idea what we were going to get last night.  Lets just say that Britton didn't disappoint.  He was awesome and has his comedic timing down perfect.  We had lots of parents say how great he did. He was pretty proud of himself.  Ashlyn is just waiting for the soccer season to start up again.  She had no interest in playing basketball.  I think I have convinced her to try swim team this summer at our neighborhood pool, so I am going to get her into some lessons again here soon.  She is obsessed with glitter glue!  Gavin is excited to go to Disney World-jsut ask him-of course he doesn't get to go until he is potty trained-he will tell you that too!  He has started to get more sassy and hates taking naps, but I still make him:)  We celebrated my birthday with a bunch of our good friends ( adults only) at our friend's the Cranes. It was seriously one of the best birthdays ever.  We went zip lining in their back yard and the coyotes in the back field were going crazy.  It was kinda scary because you couldn't see where you were headed you just heard the coyotes.  Then we headed inside and played a mean game of 4 square ( We were playing this last weekend and Tyler broke his toe) then we played around the world ping pong.  Our friend's Kurt and Marie said it was the most fun they had had in years!  It was epic and people are still talking about it.  January typically for Tyler is a slower month, but this year it seems to be just as busy as December.  He is playing basketball with our ward team and tries not to get to fed up with the huge number of guys we have in the ward :)  Oh, I am helping coach YW basketball.  That is always entertaining.  Caden is itching to go skiing and so is Ashlyn, Britton gets mad at us because we make him go.  If you have seem Britton ski, it is one of the most painful experiences.  He is so SLOW!    Britton competed in his first pinewood derby and we figured out after the races that his weight plate on the bottom had been dragging the whole time.  He didn't seem too disappointed to come in close to last.  He had fun.  He also just completed his wolf and will officially become a bear on his 9th birthday.  Caden has been enjoying Deacons.  Our ward had 22 deacons, so he only gets to pass the sacrament every couple weeks.  When it is his time to pass he is always really helpful to get all the other kids ready for church so that we can get there early so that his spot won't be given to someone else.  We had Elder Christofferson come to our Stake conference.  It was awesome.  Caden and I had the opportunity to go to a youth fireside with him and then sang in stake conference.  After the conference he shook everyone's hand, well, Gavin wouldn't shake his hand.  Well that pretty much sums things up for us.

MOM & DAD:
Hello everyone!
Dad & I can't believe how fast January came and went!!  We enjoyed having the Keate's  come over for a short visit with us.  We were sorry that the snow was so crappy.  It is really nice now though, if anyone feels so inclined to come and visit we are happy to accommodate you.

We have been busy trying to figure out our new calling, and what we can do to reach out to those who are less active.  Meeting with these people has strengthened our testimonies on how important it is to keep our covenants and staying in truth.  We have realize it is the little things we do that keeps us on track, partaking of the sacrament each Sunday, reading our scriptures everyday, prayer, and regular attendance at the temple, and let's not forget repentance forgiveness.  We hope that each of you will evaluate what you are doing, see where you can improve and strive to do a little better where you can.  We have learned there is always room for improvement and we can't do it alone, we need our Savior to help us.

We have been busy with everyday things, I am enjoying working at the temple, but I just wish it wasn't so early!!  Dad has been getting ready at work for the rush at springtime, and still managed to squeeze in a few ice fishing trips!  I don't mind too much because I really enjoy eating the  fresh BIG fish. (Dad asked that I add the adjectives)

We love your phone calls, pictures you share, visits, funny moments you have in the family, reading your comments on this family news letter, pictures for the fridge, and etc.    We love each and everyone of you very much!!!  Stay in contact!
Love,
Dad & Mom

JESSIE:
Well I have officially suffered my burnout from my long hours working! I didn't wake up today until about 3:30! Let's just say that I can't wait to have this week over! It has been crazy busy getting everything ready for the World Launch on HSN and it didn't help that I had another work trip in the middle of my preparation time. CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) went well. It was slower than our last conference. It was fun to see some of the clients that I work with in the UK, Australia, QVC UK, and HSN. They are always so cool and super nice! We ate amazing dinners and we even got to go to the beach! It was awesome and definitely needed. Would any of you like to support my living costs if I were to move out there? Don't all volunteer at once! :) The weather was 70-80 degrees daily! I had a little bit of an adventure when I was jumping a fence/wall. I fell and got all sorts of bumps, scratches, and bruises. I may or may not have started sobbing. I think it scared me. My co-workers were pretty nice about it and let me cry. It was kind of embarrassing more than anything though. Its official! I will be on air on February 9th on the HSN channel. We will be on multiple times during the day so if you see happen to gander over to that channel and see Scrapbooking....you will most likely see me in the background with Andrew presenting. We fly out to sunny Florida on Tuesday morning and fly home on Friday morning. I must say that the bright side to all of this traveling is that, at least it is warm weather! It is a good way to start off the Spring time for sure! Other than work stuff, that is sadly about it! Hope you are all doing well!
-Jessie

KYLE & ANDREA:
This past month was really kind of plain for us. Our work continues to be the same. Andrea is getting ready for the busy season to kick into full swing and I'm wrapping up a rather large project at work that will take until August to finally close. We both really enjoy our jobs. It sure makes it nice to be able to wake up in the morning and not dread work.

Church is going great. We were able to get our Youth Conference Plan signed off on and we are ready to start planning all the fine details. We are planning on floating the Weber River and also going on a ropes course. We presented it to the youth first and they loved the idea, so hopefully we get good support. Also if any of you have any ideas that make youth camps like this a success, please pass them on.

As for fun things we really have been boring. I went down to Moab with a bunch of work people for a day. We did have a blast mountain biking and then driving home all in the same day. Any time you get 7 stinky mountain bikers, tired and all crammed into the same car, it is with certainty that good times will be had. Andrea has been doing what she does best at keeping our home in order and keeping me in check.

Hopefully for February we will have some better adventures to report on.

November 2011 Update

DAD & MOM:
We have had a interesting month, but not nearly as busy as last month. It took us a while to get used to being in Utah since we were 9 hours ahead in the Mediterranean time zone. Since we have been home Dad has been setting up delivery times for poinsettias, poinsettias and poinsettias.  I have been trying to memorize the ordinances up at the Bountiful Temple.  Getting up at 3:30 AM, to be there by 5 AM is something else, but I am doing fine. When I get home Wednesday afternoon I'm really tired??
We had the full time missionaries over for dinner the evening of the BIG wind storm, it was so nice to have them in our home. We  lost power that morning  and we got it back around 7 PM,  after being in the dark and cold for a little over 12 hours.
In our ward we lost lots of big trees, we had great support on the Saturday, December 3rd, for clean up.  We were able most of the trees cut up and stacked on the edge of the curbs.  Sunday morning we received the call that we might get hit with high winds again only this time mixed with snow.  Elder Fisher, our Area Seventy, contacted the Stake Presidents in Davis County and they were told to either cancel or shortened all meetings. Most of  the wards in area only had a short sacrament meeting, and then everyone went to work to haul all off the cut up limbs and debris to the dump or secure holding yards. There were  thousands of people loading trucks, trailers, and dump loaders. Our entire stake helped clean up our Stake boundary in under 3 1/2 hours.
We have told some of you  about the loss of the "Neumans Christmas Tree", this tree has been a land mark in Farmington for over 40 years. The tree was all decorated with lights and was close to 60 feet tall when the wind took it down. What a SAD DAY.
In our ward, the only major damage was to the Squires home where a tree fell on it and damaged the roof, and corner of the home. They cannot turn the power on because it was a direct hit to the electrical box outside, and they have need to get a crane in to move the big tree. Luckily, our prayers were answered and we did not have the major storm that was predicted. Prayers were answered.
We are excited for Christmas and to be able to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  We pray that we can all continue to center our lives around Jesus and be an example to others.
We love each and every one of you and  we wish you a very Joyful Christmas.
Love Mom and Dad

KIM & TYLER:
So our update:

November seemed to fly by- I seriously don't remember much.  I think I was mentally preparing for December.  We are in full swing of birthdays, anniversary and christmas celebrations at our house.  Ashlyn had her very first birthday party last Friday night, yes it was weeks away from her actual birthday, but with all the other parties and Caden's ordination this was the only time we could do it!  We did it at our house and had the girls make pizzas, decorate cakes and of course Ashlyn had been dying to have a piƱata.  I think they all loved it and Ashlyn said it was the best birthday party ever.  Caden FINALLY finished his Faith in God and had an interview with our Bishop yesterday to be ordained a deacon.  He is more they excited to finally be done with Primary.  Britton is just living life and making us laugh.  The other day he and Ashlyn had the following conversation:

B-mom, Ashlyn won't wear her helmet when we ride our scooters to school.
A- Britton, that is because I have passed Caden's scooter training class and I don't need one.
B-Ashlyn you passed that when you were 4.  That doesn't count.  You need to take the scooter test when you are 6 then you can officially ride without a helmet.
A- No, Britton, Caden said I passed.
B- Ashlyn, you did not pass the official test.

Yes, I  guess Caden is the official scooter patrol at our house!

Our Thanksgiving was great.  We had Jessie with us and we ended up doing Thanksgiving with our good friends the Baers.  We had a fun time with yummy food.

The kids are getting excited for Christmas and I think I am finally done Christmas shopping.  I just need to wrap everything now!

My church calling has been extra busy lately and I am trying not to crash under all the stress!!! I just keep telling myself, just get this week over and then I can focus on the next week, ha ha!

We are headed out for our first family ski adventure of the season on December 17th.  The kids are excited.  We have a scout ski day and can ski for $30/ticket.  Caden keeps talking about all the moguls he is going to ski, a yeah, we'll see about that!

The geese I think have made Fort Collins their winter home.  I can hear a "heard" right now flying over head.  There is goose poop on the sidewalks and it seems every empty field has a huge flock.  It should make for a great hunt this weekend.  I was out running last week and a huge flock flew over head and I was happy I didn't get pooped on !  We are excited to have some family here for Caden's priesthood ordination-even if that isn't the real reason for the visit:)

That is about it, I know we are kinda boring.

JED  & ANG:
I loved reading everyone's update last month and wrote one thinking I would forward it on but did not end up sending.  I am including October just because...The girls both started gymnastics, they are both improving it's awesome.  Jed and I were able to get away for our tenth anniversary (early), we both recommend Aruba for any trip.  I completed Halloween costumes (with some help from my Mom) before any Halloween parties.  We went with an Alice in Wonderland theme, everyone seemed happy with it. We told the parents that we were expecting.  While some info has leaked we wanted to wait and tell everyone after our first doctor appointment (which was pretty overdue).  We are having Baby #4 in May of 2012.  We are all very excited.  We love you tons! The Kentucky Golds

November seemed to fly by, we sent the last missionary that we served with as Ward mission leaders home.  Jed loved that calling and we all benefited from having the Elders in our home so frequently.  Jed and I attended a University of Louisville football game with one of the Banks he works with.  I had forgotten how fun it is to attend college football games.  I really enjoyed being at the game with great fall weather, despite the fact that we were rooting for the opposite team as everyone around us!  We had our first Dr. appointment for our expected little one.  We can't wait to find out the gender in a few weeks.  Sarah hosted Mom and Dad for a BIG Thanksgiving feast at school.  She was a Pilgrim for her program.  We spent our holiday in Dallas visiting my brother Matt and his family.  They were great hosts and the kids loved playing with their cousins.  My highlight was Jed and Matt spending their Thanksgiving evening perusing Black Friday ads and then sleeping on the sidewalk in front of Sports Authority, better them than me! I attached a picture of the Ultrasound. Jed told the kids it looked like I was going to have a baby Platypus and they should listen to my belly for "Perry" noises (from Disney's Phineas and Ferb cartoon).  About a week later Sarah told my friend I was going to have a baby platypus.  She even had the name picked out.  So Funny!

We love you all!  The Kentucky Gold's

KYLE & ANDREA:
This past month flew by for us. We didn’t have much going on for the first of the month other than work. Andrea is enjoying her job still, and loves working with 9 partners/9 different egos. Really makes for some entertaining stories. Kyle is still loving his job. The year end is getting very busy but the end is in sight and 4 day work weeks will resume in January. We are pretty sure that our ward has either forgotten about us or we really made a bad impression in the nursery because we still don’t have callings. Oh well, guess we should enjoy the time off.

The wonderful Gold family Thanksgiving dinner lasted about 2.3 hours…world record for the Gold family. And we did get mom and dad to go midnight black Friday shopping with us in Park City too. We were burnt out after a couple of hours but Mom and Dad are like rock stars and lasted much longer than we did (insert crude joke here after that sentence), Anyways…

After a fun filled Thanksgiving we had had enough of the winter weather and went to Mexico. This time we went to Cozumel. It’s an island off the south coast of Cancun. We got down there on Saturday to find out the Ford Ironman Triathlon was going to be held on Sunday so we got super excited to know that we would be able to watch tri-athletes compete in an event we love. We had a blast cheering on the 3,000 athletes as they participated in 85 degree temps and with what felt like 1000% humidity. It was amazing to watch them. We also spent time hanging out in the hot sun, visiting Chichin Itza (the Mayan Ruins), and scuba diving.

We loved the trip to Cozumel. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort that had amazing food and fruity frozen drinks at your every beckoning call. Kim you would have been in heaven with all the food and drinks. Needless to say, we gained some weight on this trip…but it was so worth it.

JESSIE:
Well like I said before, my life still is super busy. Thanks to mom and dad for being super patient with me. I don't get home until late and then I usually have a million things to do that I don't see them very often. November was a great month though. Thanks to Tyler and Kim, I was able to spend Thanksgiving with them which was a blast! I helped...mostly watched Kim set up her Christmas decorations while I chilled with the kiddos. We went to their friends for dinner and their house is amazing! Seriously the coolest house ever! They have an indoor slide, indoor basketball court, climbing wall, and all the games you could imagine. They have a huge yard that overlooks this pond and its gorgeous! I love going to church with Tyler and Kim because I've been so many times to their ward that people know me. It's kind of cool. I'm sad that I'm not able to go out there this weekend. Great news! I was asked to do another wedding cake, so that is awesome. Kind of adds to my already busy schedule but it's all good. I'm really excited to go visit Jed and Ang over Christmas. I'm counting down the days! We had some crazy wind storms this past week, which I'm sure you've heard of. Our singles ward canceled our meetings and spent the day helping other wards with cleanup. Let just say that we totally rocked it and we were the talk of the town because we were such great help! It was a busy morning with phone calls to sisters and making sure they were okay though. Luckily I didn't hear of anything to detrimental happening. My second counselor has a Tundra truck and we (3 of us girls) toke a load to the dump. When we jumped out of the truck and started unloading the branches and debris, you should have seen everyone staring at us, especially the men. I think they were waiting for strong men to jump out of the truck to help us, but they didn't. People were yelling from a distance, "Girl Power." It was pretty funny actually. It was awesome to see everyone pull together and really clean up! Plus, the city saved a lot of money :). Well I hope everyone is doing well. Love you all and thanks for being such great examples to me!

October 2011 Update

Mom & Dad Update:

Hello family!  We have had an exciting month. The month started by finishing all of the details for our cruise to the Mediterranean. Planning to be gone for a total of 15 days seemed surreal. This is the longest trip Dad & I had ever taken, and on top of that we were going as first time "cruisers"!  We had no idea how to prepare but when all the packing was done, our 2 checked bags only weighed in at 44 lbs, and 47 lbs, WOW, we did it, what a relief. Our flight over was LONG. The international security in Chicago going to Rome was long and very slow. Air Italia was very unorganized, but dad enjoyed the pat downs! Dad only secretly flipped off Italian security once.  He was a little upset at their disorganization to say the least. As soon as we arrived in Italy, we hit the road anxious to see the sights in Rome. We got checked into the Bed and Breakfast/apartment around 11 AM.  Our shuttle never arrived as pre- arranged from the airport so we ended up taking a taxi shuttle.  The B&B was called St. Andrea because we were across the from St. Andrea Cathedral. Every morning at 7 the bells would ring, it was so cool.  Our B&B was between the Trivoli Fountain and the Spanish Steps two very popular sites in Italy.  Walking is normal in Italy, and everything is close but the cobble stone road are a little hard on the feet.  We toured the Vatican, saw Trivoli fountains, Spanish steps, Colosseum, the Parthenon, and we even took a double decker bus tour!!  I can't even name everywhere we went.

On Friday morning we took a taxi to the train station, I couldn't believe all our luggage fit in the small taxi.  We then caught the 10:20 AM train to Civitavecchia the port where the cruise ship "Mariner of the Seas" was waiting. WOW, what a ship, almost 1200 feet long 15 decks high, and could hold over 4200 people including the crew of over 1100. No electric bow motor or down riggers though.
*Here is a quick rundown of our trip, I will only mention a few places we saw and did.
Saturday, we got into Naples, Italy, we walked around Pompeii, took a  bus and went around Amalfi, and saw some beautiful sights of  the Southern coast of Italy.
Our next two days were sea days.  There is a lot to do on the ship.  Mini golf, basketball, volleyball, rock climbing, swimming, exercising, relaxing in the spa, shopping, movies, games, EATING, all you can eat Ben & Jerry's ice cream, (that made Mark & Don happy) & etc.
The next stop was Ashdod, Israel, we had Abie, a Jewish guide take us into Jerusalem.  Festival of the Tabernacles was going on so it was really congested and chaotic.  We went to the Western Wall and grandpa Mark wrote down a prayer and placed it in the wall with all the Jewish men.  Everywhere we went was special.  It was amazing to think that this was where Jesus walked, taught and was crucified. At times the spirit was strong as it testified to us of our Savior. I was very impressed with the Olive Trees, seeing them gave me an unforgettable visual of what they are like, and how the branches are grafted in.  Wednesday we went to Haifa, Israel.  Here we went to the Templar Cemetery; this is where two Mormon Missionaries are buried.  The Church was able to establish occupation in Israel before it was given back to the Jewish people. This helped establish residency so they were able to build the BYU Center. Sea of Galilee was beautiful, did you know it really is not a sea, it is a lake.  When you come up over the hill and see the view it reminded Dad and I of overlooking Bear Lake.  We could feel the spirit strongly here also, we could picture Jesus teaching and feeding the multitudes as they sat and listened to him. Jordan River was interesting, some people were dressed in white and baptizing themselves in the water??   Is was also very beautiful but very commercialized, with a restaurant, a place to pay money so you could get baptized and big souvenir shop.   We enjoy an authentic meal of vegetable pita sandwiches, with great sauces and the tradition falafel, (an appetizer made out of chick peas, seasoned and deep fried). The last two days were very fast paced and tiring, but it was enjoyable.
Thursday was another sea day; we need this day to rest.
Friday we took off running again.  Rhodes, Greece, with a visit along the east coast.  We visited Rhodes, Old Town and the new town.  Grandpa Mark rode a donkey up the mountain to visit the Old town. I walked up all 292 steps where Mark met me then we reached the Knights of St. John, and we passed through the restored Palace of the Grand Masters.  The Temple of Apollo was HUGE and we got to experience the acoustics at a Greek amphitheater, and the Greek Stadium where Gladiator's fought. It was cool.  Saturday we went to Ephesus, Turkey.  We walked along marble streets lined with wonderful ancient public buildings built 2nd century AD.  The Grand Theater's are two of the most impressive buildings, to hold 24,000 spectators built by the Romans. One of these theaters was where Paul preached.  The Terrace Houses were impressive; there were 6 different wealthy roman houses.  St John's Basilica, is believed to be where St. John had spent his last years and was buried??? When they showed us his burial site, they mentioned they have never unearthed bones??  I wonder why?
Sunday we were in Athens, Greece.  A memorable experience was going to Church in the Athens Branch. It was so neat. The Mission President was there and told us we all needed to go back home and put in our papers to serve missions.  He needed couple missionaries!  We did a city tour, with Parliament and the Changing of the Guards, the Temple of Zeus and many Greek Trilogy stuff.  Caden, I thought of you and the Percy Jackson books we read.  We also saw the Old Olympic stadium where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896.
Monday we went into Chania, Crete, Greece.  We walked around the plaza, did a little shopping, and saw some more Roman ruins.  This is where we bought all our daughters necklaces.  I got me a pair of leather gloves and a silver necklace. When we got ready to leave we exited out through the shopping plaza and we could hear loud music.  As we got closer, we could see that it was a demonstration.  The people were not happy with the government corruption. We got through the large crowd and met at the bus stop, but there were no buses, they could not get through the traffic and people surrounding the area.  A man was directing us to cross several streets and get to a safer area where the buses were parked.  We got on the bus and drove through the back roads towards the ship.  It was an adventure to say the least.  Tuesday was a day at sea.  It was nice to relax and of course pack up and get ready to leave the next day.
We loved cruising and we would do it again.  We had a great time visiting the Mediterranean and being with Don & Kathy.  They were great traveling companions.  I would someday love to visit Israel again and spend more time there.  Another trip maybe??
Our return home was uneventful.  Fortunately, for Dad, we flew with Delta the whole way, security was quicker and not as unorganized!
Upon arriving home we had to jump right back into normal life, this was hard because we both had jet lag.  Jessie kept the house and yard up while we were gone and she did a great job.
Our first Sunday home I was released from the primary presidency and Dad was released from teaching the gospel doctrine class in the ward. We both received new callings, Dad is called to be the Ward Mission Leader and I am called as a ward missionary.  I get to be Dad's mission companion!!  This will be a challenging calling for us, but I know that it will help us grow and prepare us to be full time missionaries in the years to come.  We'll need your prayers.
We love you all and look forward to all of the good things that you do. Our prayers are with each of you and with our wonderful grandchildren. We are proud of you all. Keep making good choices. Thanks for being so wonderful!!
Love,  Dad & Mom

PS:  Sorry this is so long, I even condensed it!!  Next time I won't have as much to say.

Kyle and Andrea update:

The month of October was a great month for us. We celebrated our 1 year anniversary on October 14th and had a blast doing so. We also accomplished something that we never thought would be possible...We went on a cruise that didn't break down!! Don't all pass out with astonishment. To start off our big 1 year accomplishment we decided to go down to California early and enjoy Disneyland and Universal Studios. We loved every minute of acting like kids (without kids) in the happiest place on earth. We then caught the ship out of Long Beach and enjoyed our cruise to Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. We definitely had an eclectic combination of friends and family on the cruise which made it very enjoyable. We should seriously consider a Gold family cruise in the future.

As for life at home, work for Andrea is going great. She is still supporting the audit staff at Tanner and also performing their HR functions. Very sarcastically, she is looking forward to the Holiday season where she gets to plan all the Tanner events! I'm still loving my work at L-3 and look forward to my 4 day work weeks. Hopefully our beloved Federal Government budget cuts don't wipe us off the grid. But on a bright note, we were released from our callings in the nursery. You can tell when you have been in the nursery too long when kids falling off tables, getting stuck in the accordion doors, and horribly stinky diapers make you laugh...and subsequently gets you released. We still are awaiting our next callings.

Kim & Tyler Update:

The month of October seems to have been filled with football soccer and more football for us.  Caden just finished his 2nd tackle football season and Britton just finished his first flag football season after telling us this spring he was officially retired from soccer.  He even finished off his last game with a touchdown running pretty much the whole length of the field. Ashlyn was a super star in soccer and is looking forward to playing again-she isn't retired .  Both the boys and Ashlyn's last games were canceled due to our first snow of the season.  It melted just in time for halloween and then 2 days later it snowed again.  The kids were disappointed in neither snow giving them an official "snow day".  We had to remind them that we live in Colorado now and not St. Louis.

This year for Halloween, Ashlyn was a cat, Britton was a ninja and Gavin was buzzlighyear-3rd boy to wear that costume!  We got our money worth out of that!  Caden was hard to find a costume this year.  First he is so tall that the kids costumes were too short and the adult costumes too big and then we were contending with what was considered "cool".  It wasn't fun looking in the costume shop for him.

This is the time of year when things start to pick up for work in the hospital for Tyler.  Everyone is trying to get those last minute surgeries in before the end of the year.  I just finish YW volleyball today.  Me and my friend Angie were the coaches.  Our team ended up playing our second team of YW in the consolation championship!  Yes, we were in the loser bracket but had some fun.  We were just proud that someone from our ward was going to bring home the championship title for the losers!  We celebrated with Taco Bell.

We just moved Gavin to a toddler bed and he thinks he is some big stuff now.  He will go pee in the potty when he wants to and can even do it on command, but likes to hide and go in a private room to do his other business.  We keep telling him that we will take him to Disney World if he goes in the toilet.  We'll see.  He doesn't like change and when I tried to put underwear on him the other day he didn't like it.

We are going to be coming out to Utah the first week in January, so mark your calendars.  We are going to do lots of skiing:)

Jessie Update:
I first have to say how excited I am to put these together each month! It was so fun reading all your updates. Even though I talk to you all, I still don't get the small details that these letters give!
Things with me have been great! I honestly don't know where the time has gone but I have been at my job for about 8 months and I'm loving it! My work family is truly amazing and I have never worked in such an environment! It's great that I can walk into my bosses office and tell him I need a friend, not a boss and I can talk to him about personal things that are bothering me or get dating advice (he was single until he was 28 so he has a good idea of what I'm going through in that department). I've been super busy with work! This past week I worked until about 2:00 3 nights in a row! My boss goes on HSN and I get the stressful job of creating his tables and on-air samples. He hates going on there, but he does a really good job. So if you ever have free time, check it out and you can see things I've made on TV. It's also been very busy because our Marketing Manager left so I've been helping with the marketing. I'm using the time as a trial period to see if I'd like to apply. I wouldn't necessarily work for Andrew though so that is kind of sad. So not only am I doing my regular job, but I have taken on another position that is pretty time consuming! Mom and dad have been very patient with my tired mood though! Some nights I get home at 7:30 and then jump from my car to another to do visits with the Relief Society.
The other day I was in a conference call with some peeps in Wisconsin when my boss came up to me after asking if I wanted to go to a movie. Me being confused asked him who else was coming. He mentioned only his friends. So 3 of us went to the Centerville Megaplex and enjoyed an empty theater while watching the "3 Musketeers," (seemed appropriate since there were only 3 of us). It was their GRAND opening so we had endless amounts of food (pretzels, wraps, chicken, nachos, chocolate fountain, angel food cake, churros, bananas, strawberries, and popcorn) and they even skipped the previews for us. It was pretty cool!
The calling is never ending, but it has blessed my life in more ways than I can even imagine. It is by far the hardest and most time consuming calling I've ever had, but the most rewarding. It's amazing to feel the love for the sisters in the ward automatically. I have made 150 girlfriends in 6 months! That is pretty cool! :) I've started to make a lunch on Sunday's because I'm there all day and I get hungry. People think it's funny, but I'm a Gold and when I don't eat, you all know what happens!
Well I think I could keep writing, but I don't want to bore you! October flew past! I didn't even get to carve pumpkins! Hopefully I can enjoy November a little bit more. Love you all and thanks for being such great examples to me!
